As it says in the video, this was a community service project of mine. My doctor’s office didn’t have any stirrup covers for their medical exam tables, so I drafted a pattern, sewed up two pair, and gave them to my doctor’s office for free.
So yeah, it’s a craft project, but it’s not related to doll clothes. I suppose you could use the pattern to make a doll-sized drawstring bag, if you really wanted to.

I still thought some of you might want to have this easy-to-sew pattern because it does make a good community service project, and frankly, it only takes about 20 minutes to make a pair of these. Before I go in for my next physical, I’m going to whip up a couple more pairs to take to my doctor’s office, just to show how much I appreciate my doc.
To make today’s stirrup cover craft project, you will likely need one of the following items:
- flannel or
- some of the fabric in my Spoonflower store
- 1/2 inch elastic
- chopsticks (for inverting)
- Gutermann sewing machine thread
- Gutermann sewing machine thread
- needles for hand stitching
This list comes from my “Buyer’s Guide” page, which is easily accessed from the home page.

If you know any nurses who like to craft, please consider sharing today’s project with them. And as it says in my video, my Spoonflower store has some great silly fabrics for a project like this.
