I’m still on Vacation. As I type this, I’m in a hotel room in San Dimas, California. So to keep things simple while I’m away, I’ve created some short videos of me painting honeymoon hibiscus flowers.
Before I left on this vacation, I used some painting software to remove the white background from behind the flowers I painted, adding leaves in abundance (also these leaves are some I painted), to create a fabric that looked like honeymoon hibiscus flowers in a green hibiscus bush.

If you don’t mind, please go to the Hothouse Florals design challenge page on Spoonflower to vote for my “Hothouse Honeymoon Hibiscus” fabric design.
Here’s what the design ended up looking like after I was all done painting and tweaking it on my digital software:

Here’s the page you go to when you want to cast your votes. Voting closes May 5th. My design is titled “Hothouse Honeymoon Hibiscus in Red and Green.”
You have to weed through the pages to find my design because they change the order of the designs for every new visitor. Also, in order for your vote to count, I think you have to vote for 5 different designs before hitting the final “Submit my votes” button.
Thank you for considering it. It would be so awesome if I returned from my trip to discover that I’ve won a challenge!

Here are 3 ways you can help support my website and YouTube channel:
- Vote for my fabric in the Spoonflower Hothouse Florals challenge!
- Purchase one of the fabrics I’ve designed — here’s a link to my Spoonflower store
- Pray for this website to grow and prosper!

Yay. I was actually able to vote for your design this time. Last time I got on 3 different times and still couldn’t find it. They allow too many entries and the number has gotten out of hand since they first started doing these contests. I think they need to tighten the requirements. Still trying to figure out how cherry blossoms and meadow flowers fit a Hothouse Floral category. Those are only two of the many I felt the same way about. Hope you get a prize, Chelly!
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me!
I think it’s kind of fun to look through all the designs. (I have to vote as well, in order to win.) And yeah, sometimes it seems like they’re looser with the rules, but in other ways they’re very strict. My Easter Island fabric got rejected from the Boho themed contest because I used photos from the internet that were in the public domain, to help me trace the Easter Island heads. I significantly changed the images from the original photos though, adding hair and headphones and hairclips and stuff, but it still got rejected.
So I think they’re actually more strict than people realize with their contests.
Thank you so much for your website. I am going to use the 18 inch doll patterns to help me make my new My Twinn doll some clothing. Its a great starting point since the my twinn is 23 inches tall.
Best of luck to you with your “My Twinn” doll clothes project!
