I think all of us know that our earth is in need of a relaxing day at the spa, right?

Tomorrow is Earth Day, and in years past, I’ve done official “Earth Day Challenge” activities. You can view those here and here, if you’re interested in seeing what those challenges looked like.

Barbie stands beside an open suitcase packing her clothes for a trip with a laptop on the coffee table behind her. It looks like Barbie is about to go on vacation. The pink floor takes up a significant amount of room in the photo, and Barbie holds a hanger with a grey sweater on it. We only see Barbie from the waist down, but it's clear that she is packing her suitcase for a vacation.

Last week I mentioned that I’d be taking a short vacation, and the truth is, I pre-posted today’s blog post. I’m still on the road somewhere, but about five years ago, I made a smart choice to make a positive difference in my everyday activities on Planet Earth. I bought a hybrid car.

I would have preferred an all-electric vehicle, but the one I wanted to buy was not yet available in the US. I hate to say it, but here in the USA, it seems like we’re sort of behind the rest of the world in terms of eco-friendly living. Still, buying a hybrid car was a step in the right direction.

So as you read this, I’m driving around in my little blue Toyota somewhere in the Southwest. If you see this sign on a blue Toyota, you will know it’s me! Feel free to step up and introduce yourself!

Far Left, an American Girl Kaya doll models a handmade floral sleeveless shirt and jeans. Center left, a tiny 5 inch Elsa doll models a yellow gown with black sleeve cuffs and a black collar. Center right, a 4 inch Frozen Anna doll models a white shirt and a burgundy elastic-waist skirt. Far right, a Barbie wears a beautiful 1970’s style vintage wedding dress with a lace and ribbon decorated bonnet. This is the magnetic advertisement on the door of Chelly Wood’s hybrid Toyota car.

I’ve also been primarily using only those fabrics which are in my stash, rather than buying new material. If I need a color or print I don’t already own, I go to my second-hand store to buy the fabric.

For anyone who isn’t aware, fabric dyes can be very hard on the environment! However, Spoonflower (while it’s expensive) is dedicated to sustainable fabric creation. So I’ve been designing fabrics for Spoonflower.

Question: What changes are you making in your crafting projects (and life in general) to be more earth-friendly? Please leave your answer in the comments!
