How to make doll-sized fabric-covered buttons #CraftyMom #CraftProjects

If you just want the patterns and tutorial videos for making the whole outfit, please scroll down to the second set of bullets.

Today’s craft project video shows you how to make cloth-covered buttons for dolls. In my video, you’ll see that I used 6 mm diameter buttons to form the back closure for a crop top that will fit Curvy Barbie, but I recommend that you use this same size buttons, but for an outfit that will fit a bigger doll, like the 15 inch Wellie Wishers or 18 inch dolls. I just think the cloth-covered button project will look nicer on a bigger doll than a Barbie.

But as you can see in my images, it looks “acceptable” on a Barbie.

We see a Curvy Barbie doll from the back, and she wears a handmade purple crop top. Running down the back of the crop top are half a dozen lavender fabric-covered buttons. Each button is fastened with a braid of embroidery floss that forms a loop.

To make the top, you’ll need some lightweight cotton fabric, embroidery floss, 6 mm buttons, and a fabric pencil.

To make the shorts, you’ll need some lightweight cotton fabric and one size 3/0 snap.

I also mention a product called Fray Check in my video. Here’s a link to that important product.

A Curvy Barbie models a pair of tailor-fitted purple floral shorts with a lavender solid cotton crop top that has a boat neck, is sleeveless, and at the bottom of the crop top there's a row of purple and lavender fringe made of embroidery floss. The doll is a Black Barbie with milk-chocolate complexion and one bent arm with one straight arm. The bent arm rests on her hips. She's a Curvy Barbie, and her hair is brown with gold highlights.
