I know that many of you create doll clothes using recycled clothing, which is so admirable! We all want to see that kind of change in the way humans use the earth’s resources.
But during the holiday season, it’s easy to slip back into our old habits, buying plastics and non-recycled goods, as we try to fill the Christmas stockings of all our kids, grandkids, friends, and family members.
So this holiday season, when you’re buying goodies for everyone from your spouse/significant other to the lady next door, why not choose gifts that are both sustainable and offer an income to a marginalized group of people?

SilaiWali is the Hindustani word for a seamstress, and it’s also the name of a fairtrade business that employs Afghan refugees in New Delhi, the capital city of India. They make and dress dolls from earth-friendly recycled clothing, but they also make holiday ornaments, stuffed animals, and other goods.
You can learn more about SilaiWali at this link. You can shop for handmade goods on their website at this link.
Neither of these links is an affiliate link. (In other words, I’m not being given any money by SilaiWali or anybody else.) I just wanted to open up your mind to possible Christmas gift ideas which are earth friendly and demonstrate kindness toward Afghan refugees.
If you know of additional earth-friendly businesses or organizations that help support marginalized populations, please leave a comment about them. Most people in the Christian sector of planet earth have already started their Christmas shopping. If we’re going to spend the money, why not spend it on a good cause?

Happy Christmas shopping!
