If you live in the States, you know that Independence Day is right around the corner, so I thought I’d inspire you with that version of today’s skirt as well.

Ten inch Moana dolls free doll clothes patterns at Chelly Wood dot com. Far left, Moana doll’s face is pictured. Center left, Moana models the handmade outfit in profile, so we can see that the skirt and shirt fit nicely. Center right, Moana stands facing forward, hands at her sides. This shows that the skirt’s length is just above the doll’s knee. Far right, we see her from the back. This demonstrates that while the elastic waist is used on the denim skirt, the back of the shirt closes with snaps (AKA poppers).

But today’s tutorial specifically shows you how to embellish your little 10 inch doll’s skirt with some lace trim and 1/4 inch wide Offray ribbon. Denim is a timeless fabric, it seems, but when you’re sewing for dolls, it’s important to use lightweight denim, not the heavy stuff used for people’s jeans.

The links below will include a pattern for Moana’s sweet little pink gingham top, as well as a link to the tutorial video showing how to make that top. It was first posted as a shirt for DC Superhero Girls 10 inch dolls, but it also fits Moana nicely.

So to make today’s doll clothing, you will likely need one of the following items:

This list comes from my “Buyer’s Guide” page, which is easily accessed from the home page.

Ten inch Moana models her handmade doll clothes, including her pink gingham short-sleeved top with scoop neck, the denim skirt with its ribbon trim near the hem and lace trim beneath the hem, and her handmade blue and white high-top sneakers. And if you’re interested in buying some, I actually have a huge bolt of the tiny pink lace that I used at the bottom of my doll’s denim skirt. I’d be happy to sell you some by the yard. Please contact me if you’d like to add it to my store. I can easily make it available for you to purchase.

Two dolls face each other wearing handmade sneakers. The light blue Converse-like sneakers have a heart-shaped logo on the hi-top. The black sneakers have a more traditional blue star with red stitching, like true Converse shoes.

This is a Tinkerbell Fairy fashion doll from the smaller-than-the-princess-dolls line of Disney character dolls. She wears a handmade crop top T-shirt and a miniskirt of wavy red-white-and-blue cotton fabric. The crop top is made of navy blue jersey fabric that matches the wavy-patterned skirt fabric. The doll also wears navy blue high heel shoes. She looks "ready to fly away" as she poses with her arms extended a bit from the bell-shaped skirt. Sindy dolls were originally created by Pedigree Dolls & Toys, but they have been made by other manufacturers including Hasbro, Vivid Imaginations, and New Moon. Currently (at the time of this blog post) a limited number of the newest version of these dolls is being manufactured by Kid Kreations of Staffordshire, England. I haven’t tried my doll clothes on this newer version, but sewists have told me my Tammy doll patterns do fit the vintage Sindy dolls created by Pedigree Dolls & Toys. Please visit one of these toy companies’ websites to learn more about the toys they produce. The Sindy dolls are trademarked and as such, it should be noted that Chelly Wood and ChellyWood.com are not affiliated with either Pedigree or Kid Creations.  However Chelly has enjoyed designing doll clothes that will fit these dolls along with others in a similar size range…
