Let’s Sew a Sunny Eyelet Ruffle Sleeve Shirt and Schoolgirl Skirt for 18-inch Dolls @ ChellyWood.com #FreePattern #DollClothes

Here we see an 18" doll (similar in body style to the American Girl doll) modeling a pretty yellow top with eyelet lace trim around the sleeves and a multicolored skirt dotted with big colorful daisies in the fabric's printed design. The skirt is an elastic-waist easy-to-sew skirt, ideal for beginners and children learning how to sew for the first time. Last Thursday I gave you a pattern and tutorial video for making a cute V-neck “holiday top” with a ruffle for a sleeve. This pattern was designed to fit most 18-inch dolls.

Well today I’m combining that ruffle-sleeve top concept with my “schoolgirl skirt” for 18″ dolls to make the outfit you see at the top of this post. But there’s one caviat: today’s pattern is for a round-neck top instead of a V-neck top.

You can follow the V-neck top’s directions to make the round-neck top though. The instructions are pretty much identical, but the neckline will look just a wee bit different in the video tutorial. So please bear that in mind. Other than that, the instructions are pretty much the same.

    1. Do you mean, “How do I use the measurement tool that’s found on the paper patterns?”

After you print my patterns, just lay a hard ruler down beside the measurement tool. If they match, then you’ve printed the patterns to scale.

I began offering the measurement tool when my followers from outside the US requested one. That’s because their printers use a different type of paper from the paper we use here in the United States.
