Let’s sew a swimsuit, ballet tutu, or leotard for 28″ dolls w/free patterns @ ChellyWood.com #summerfun #dollclothes

To my regular blog followers, this week’s versatile swimsuit pattern will look familiar. Yes, it can be made into a Tutu, gymnast’s leotard, or even an ice skater’s leotard. But where have you seen it before?

I posted these patterns last year, but I had a flaw in the tutorial. (I’m blushing.) I had to take the tutorial down and remove the pattern for a while.

Then a sewing teacher sent me a message… she was counting on using the tutorial video and pattern for one of her classes! Oh no! I quickly patched my mistakes and re-posted the pattern and tutorial for her sake, but today I’ve finally re-mastered the tutorial with the correction to the tutorial in place, and the pattern is uploaded all as one item too, which is less troublesome to download and print.

So here you go…

Today’s free pattern will fit the following dolls:

Here’s a really nice image of today’s project for pinning on Pinterest:

The image shows Mattel's 28 inch Barbie doll wearing ice skates, a figure skater's leotard (swimsuit) and tutu with a handmade sweater. The huge Barbie doll waves as she skates by, smiling at the viewer. She seems to be kicking one foot up, gliding along gracefully on the snow in an outdoor skating rink. 1. I have printed out your pattern for the swimsuit/leotard for a 28″ doll. I am trying to make clothes for a 24″ vintage doll. Have you done any such patterns? The doll’s body does not look like Barbie.

    1. Well, to my surprise, the 28 inch Barbie and 18 inch American Girl dolls can “kind of” swap clothes. The ballerina leotard or swimsuit sort of fits the American Girl dolls, so maybe it will fit your 24″ vintage doll as well. Best of luck to you!
