#MeMadeMonday: I made #IndependenceDay #EasySew skirts for 6″ #AmericanGirlDoll w/this free pattern!

This photograph shows the six inch American Girl Mini doll Kit Kittredge standing on a boardwalk with a seascape in the backdrop. There's a lighthouse in the distance, along with a sand bank and a dock. The doll wears tiny red Mary Jane shoes, a handmade navy blue T-shirt, and a hand-sewn skirt that's patterned with red, white, and blue wavy stripes. The watermark in the corner of the photo tells the website where you can download the free printable pdf sewing pattern for making this outfit for 6-inch American Girl Mini dolls: ChellyWood.com

Tomorrow is June 4th, which means we citizens of the United States of America have about one month before we celebrate a nation-wide holiday: Independence Day!

So now’s the time to start your 4th of July sewing and craft projects, my fellow Americans! Let’s celebrate the 4th by sewing a patriotic skirt for our little 6-inch American Girl Mini dolls!

For those of you who are not in the US, this week’s skirt project can easily be made into a variety of patterns and styles:

This image shows five different styles of skirts made to fit a 6-inch American Girl doll, using the free pdf pattern for 6 inch AG mini dolls found at ChellyWood.com.

Don’t you just love that little pink one with the hipster glasses trim? I found the fabric and trim at JoAnn’s Fabric and Crafts, in the clearance bins. How lucky is that!?!

The image shows the 6" mini American Girl doll wearing handmade clothes including a skirt trimmed in "hipster glasses" ribbon, and a screenprinted T-shirt in matching pinks and blues. The doll stands before a 1960's style blocky wall of stained-glass-style art, almost as if the wall is a mural of colorful rectangles and squares. The blue shades in the wall art makes the hipster-glasses trim on the tie-dyed pink skirt really pop! There's a watermark which offers the name of the website where you can download the free printable pdf pattern for sewing both the tee shirt and the hipster-glasses-skirt: ChellyWood.com (free printable sewing patterns for dolls of many shapes and sizes). This website has lots of free patterns, including the pdf pattern for a 6-inch AG doll wardrobe which includes this skirt pattern and the t-shirt pattern.

So what’s on this week’s agenda? I’m going to post the pattern for the skirt, plus a tutorial for the skirt.

And tomorrow I’ll address a question that one of our followers had for #TapeMeasureTuesday… Dodi asked, “Can you put the measurements for Barbie? I have a customer who wants to start sewing clothes.”

Well, that request is long overdue! How right you are, Dodi! #TapeMeasureTuesday will offer measurements for Barbie this week.

And Friday I will offer a new tutorial for a basic sewing concept that may have baffled some of you beginners: basting. (It’s easier than you might think!)

Do you ever wonder how you can help me keep this free pattern website running? More traffic to this site helps a lot!
