DIY Project: Sew a velvet shirt with long sleeves for your 18″ dolls! #sewing #crafts #dolls

The image shows a Madame Alexander doll wearing a hand-made long-sleeved shirt with buttons in the front and snaps in the back. This doll shirt fits most 18" dolls, including the American girl dolls and the 18-inch Madame Alexander dolls among others. The shirt is made of velvet but can be sewn using other fabrics as well. The overlay says, "ChellyWood.com: free patterns and tutorials".

This week on ChellyWood.com, I’m going to give you the free, printable sewing pattern for the adorable red velvet shirt that my 18-inch Madame Alexander doll is wearing in the photo above.

It looks great with the free, easy-to-sew skirt pattern that I posted last week, as you can see in the image below:

The image shows the Kaya doll from American Girl doll company modeling a handmade velvet shirt with long sleeves and decorative buttons, along with a handmade skirt with an elastic waist. The overlay is a watermark offering the URL of the website where the free patterns for these 18 inch doll clothes can be found: ChellyWood.com.

This week’s pattern and last week’s are designed to fit most 18-inch dolls like the American Girl dolls, 18″ Madame Alexander dolls, Journey Girls, and other, similar-sized dolls.

The velvet top will require two patterns. I’ll post the bodice tomorrow, the sleeve pattern on Wednesday, and then Thursday I’ll post the tutorial video, showing you how to sew it together.

My patterns are free and printable, but I do count on my followers to help spread the word about my free doll clothes patterns and tutorials. So please remember to tell your friends about this site! Thank you, and happy New Year everyone!
