Sometimes I create a new pattern for one doll and later discover that it also fits other dolls. If I remember correctly, I first designed this cute little sleeveless flannel nightgown pattern to fit the Baby Alive 12 inch baby dolls. It was a Valentine’s Day blog post.
And then I recently realized I needed to post this nightgown for the 13 inch Disney Princess toddler dolls because, as you can see in my photos, it definitely fits them.

The image above shows you the three primary pieces you’ll want to cut out, in order to make the nightgown. The pattern says “Dress Back Cut 4” but that’s incorrect for the nightgown.
You see, I also used this pattern for a lined dress, but on little dolls, flannel is often too thick for a lining. So you’ll only want to cut out two backs and one front piece to make the nightgown. For the front, please cut the pattern on the fold.
When you’re done cutting out the fabric pieces, you should have something like the layout you see above. TIP: Make sure the two backs are mirror images of each other, so if you’re using one-sided fabric, just fold it before pinning the back pattern piece over the top of the fabric. This will give you two identical but mirror-image backs, like you see in the graphic above.
In the bulleted list below, it’s suggested that you buy some flannel. I recommend using a small-print or solid color of flannel. So with that said, you will likely need one or more of the following items to make a little sleeveless nightgown for your Disney Princess toddler doll:
- flannel on Amazon
- Gondola Snaps on Etsy (various sizes)
- lace trim (for along the bottom of the nightgown)
- Dritz fabric pencil
- Fiskars Stitchers mini snips (for clipping seams efficiently)
- Gutermann sewing machine thread
