I’ve had a few big changes in my life lately, and I wanted to be open and honest about them. So today’s blog post answers the questions, “What’s going on at ChellyWood.com?” and “Are things changing?”
Some of the biggest changes in my life lately are a.) My father passed away, b.) I retired from my job as a school librarian, and c.) I’ve been writing a personal memoir.

To answer the question that appears above, yes, I’m still teaching online classes. It was my intention to start building a new course in doll clothing design with C&T Publishing, but it doesn’t seem to be possible right now. I’m surprisingly overwhelmed with other responsibilities.
In fact, this week, I have jury duty! So while I’d like to finish writing my memoir and begin creating a new doll clothes design class, that won’t be possible while I have jury duty. Stuff like that just keeps getting dropped into my lap for some reason…
However the two courses I’ve already designed for C&T Publishing are still available, and you can click the links I’ve provided here to learn more about them.
In fact, one of the students enrolled in my C&T Publishing courses shared with me the jeans she designed for Lottie dolls (see image above), and so it seems like everyone who is enrolled or has been enrolled in my online courses, has really been enjoying the lessons.

So are things changing at ChellyWood.com? Not really. I’ve just been overwhelmed!
You may have noticed that I’ve quit blogging five days a week and instead, I’m only doing three blog posts a week. That’s because I’ve had too much on my plate lately.
I’m still crafting though, and when I start to see the light of day, I’ll have more free doll clothes sewing patterns to share.
Thank you to those of you who’ve reached out, wishing me well, as I processed the loss of my father. Your good hearts and well wishes have been deeply felt.
Now I’m just waiting for things to slow down enough to really put time and effort into my website, my memoir, new online courses, and the many other tasks that have been on hold for quite some time.

Hi, summer period can be very busy. I am working a lot and have no time for anything.
I have bought few new dolls, do you know the ones with a porcelain head, hands and legs and a body to sew in fabric from the ‘70s?
I was able to put back the eyes to the dolly from the ‘50s I have found at the flea market but now I must some time to sew something easy for her. Who knows why I am afraid she can get a cold?
Probably it is not bad doing something different, when you come back to a project you can are it from a new perspective and with probably with renovated new energy.

I used to think “Oh no, my dolly will get a cold!” when I was a kid. You’re tapping into your “inner child!”
And yes, when I come back to my various projects, I will be filled with renewed energy.
Dear Chelly, I am so sorry to hear about your father’s death. My parents left this world in the ’90s. I haven’t been doing any sewing in years because I moved into another apartment in my building and have some stuff to declutter.

I was a school librarian but got made redundant last year. It’s a big life change.
Oh, I’m SO sorry. My job wasn’t replaced by an actual certified librarian when I retired. A paraprofessional (who is, by the way, a very nice lady) replaced my full-time position.
I retired early because I could see the writing on the wall. I’m not sure what the future holds, but the world is definitely changing all around us.
I sincerely hope (and pray) that you can find work that brings you joy. Sometimes God puts big changes in front of us because we’re needed elsewhere. Prayers and good wishes for you… 🙏
