First, I want to wish a happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans out there! Tomorrow is the day we celebrate Thanksgiving.
My little Alana doll (from Dora and Friends, shown at the top of the page) is displaying some very nice fall colors, in orange, black, and white, as we plan our holiday crafting for the upcoming winter holidays. Today I’m giving you the free doll clothes patterns for making this swingy tank top and shorts for your Dora and Friends 8 inch character dolls, along with the tutorial videos showing how to make this outfit.
Before we dive into this project, I need to make my required disclaimer statement: As an Amazon affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases. To learn more about how affiliate marketing works on my website, please go to the Privacy Policy page. Thank you!

The shorts can be made from holiday print fabric, stretch denim, or just basic cotton fabric. They use 1/8 inch wide elastic from Elastic by the Yard for the waist.
The shirt is made of solid cotton, and as the closure area is quite wide, I recommend using sew-on Velcro for your closure.

This crop top is especially swingy, so I used a strip of 3/4 inch wide Velcro cut in half down the middle (cut vertically, down the middle of the long strip) for my back closure on the shirt.
If you don’t know where to buy 3/4 inch wide sew-on Velcro, I do have a link to that product in my store, along with many other types of closures for use when making dolls’ clothes.
Sew-on Velcro is very different from craft Velcro. You should never use the kind with a sticky back on your fabrics.
