It’s the tail end of July, 2023, and last December I found this Belle doll from the Disney non-animated movie Beauty and the Beast in a local thrift store. To hear the story of her dolly “makeover” please click here.
Today I’m fitting Belle out in some new shorts and a T-shirt, and if you also have a Hasbro 2016 Belle doll who needs some clothes, please join me!

To make today’s T-shirt, all you need is a swatch of jersey fabric. An old T-shirt will do, or you can buy jersey fabric remnants on Etsy for pretty cheap.
Then you’ll need some cotton fabric for the shorts, which have a fly front with a snap.
I recommend Dritz Size 4/0 snaps for both the T-shirt and the shorts, although you could use Velcro to close the back of the tee instead.

I’m super-new at dolls and their hair issues and nearly all the dolls I get are thrifted. And nearly all have “glue head.” I’ve tried using fabric softener, but the only thing that works for me is Goo Gone. I first wash them in Dawn dish soap and brush them out in the kitchen sink under running water. A wide tooth comb can work, but I found a dog brush with coated bristles that works great! My next step is to wash them in shampoo and conditioner (I use Suave Tropical Coconut Nourishing Shampoo because I have asthma and allergies, this doesn’t cause me any respiratory problems.) Then just air dry. If they’re hair isn’t fixed after that, I soak them in straight Goo Gone for at least two hours. I repeat the washing/shampooing/combing/air-drying process and it’s worked well for me. I have had to do this more than once on a couple dolls, but it does fix the glue head issue. I have 2 that are severely matted and I would also appreciate any tips on fixing matted hair. I suspect that I’ll be learning how to re-root instead.
