Kelly doll dress! @ ChellyWood.com #Miniature #DollClothes

Are you looking for the patterns? Scroll down to the second set of bullets.

Today’s free pattern has existed here, on ChellyWood.com, for some time, but today I’m showing you a new dress to make with that existing pattern.

I used a simple yellow felt for the bodice and a tiny-print cotton fabric for the skirt. You’ll also need some very small size 1/0 Dritz snaps for the back of your doll’s dress.

Note that this dress also fits a couple of rare vintage dolls too — the early version of Strawberry Shortcake dolls, and the Heart Family baby dolls from Mattel.

It’s pretty exciting to post new patterns for those two! Especially since I’ve gotten requests for doll clothes to fit the Heart Family baby dolls, but this pattern is the first one I’ve ever posted for those older Mattel Barbie baby dolls.

Which dolls will fit these doll clothes?

  1. hi Chelly. Thank you so much for the pattern. I made this outfit yesterday for my daughter but i made it out of cotton and dont know how to keep the bodice (B) from fraying. Do you have instructions on making this section from cotton? thank you so much

    1. Hi. Yes, if you want to make the bodice from cotton instead of felt, try using Fray Check as a fabric sealant. It’s like glue, so if you wash the doll clothes, it will wash out. But for general play, this will keep the fabric from fraying. Use the Fray Check around the neck and sleeve openings. Just dab it on, like glue.

Be aware that, like other glue-type products, it’s not edible. I don’t know how young the recipient of the doll clothes will be, but I’d make sure the child understands that this shouldn’t be put in her mouth. Okay?
