Image shows Tall Barbie from Mattel's Fashionista line wearing a wedding dress that has been hand-made along with a DIY wedding bridal veil. She holds a bouquet of handmade silk ribbon flowers in miniature. The diorama she stands in includes the bust of a classical musician on a pedestal and a white pillar decorated with a leafy vine of tiny leaves trailing down to where Barbie stands with her elegant lace veil trailing behind her as a wedding train. The barbie doll smiles gracefully as if she's truly joyful about exchanging vows with Ken. As most Barbie collectors know, Mattel’s Tall Barbie has different body measurements than the more traditional Barbie. At the request of one of my cousins, I designed and made this wedding dress pattern to fit Mattel’s Tall Barbie.

To sew this dress, you’ll want at least 1/3 of a yard of white cotton fabric, some lace, white craft felt, and crinoline. The bouquet uses tiny silk flowers, green wire, and wire cutters. For making the veil, you’ll need a chenille stem, white ribbon, and lace.

You’ll also need snaps for the back closure of the felt bodice.

Today’s patterns will only fit this doll:

  1. May I ask how tall is this Barbie? I know the original doll was 11.5 inches. Thank you for your time.
