This week I’m going to share my free pattern for khaki pants with a pocket.

As the heading states, this pattern will fit 14 inch dolls like the Wellie Wishers from American Girl or Hearts for Hearts Girls.

The image shows Consuelo, the Hearts4Hearts Girl doll wearing handmade clothes including a shirt, pants with a pocket, and a purse with a side pocket. She stands in front of a stump, and she has plastic Mary Jane style shoes on her feet. The color of the shoes match the color of her short-sleeve, V-neck shirt. The color of the purse is akin to the khaki-grey color of the pants she wears. Yep, those are the same pants that we saw in the images for last week’s purse project, and in fact, this week’s pocket pattern is the same pocket pattern we used on the purse. But look how cute it is in the back of these adorable khaki pants:

The free printable pdf pattern for making these 15 inch doll pants is found at ChellyWood.com (the URL is provided on the image). These pants can be made with top stitch decorations and a back pocket. Free tutorial videos are available to show you how to sew them.

We’re also going to learn a little about top stitching, which is a decorative addition to any garment. Just look at the turquoise blue top stitching that goes down the side of these khakis:

She is turned sideways so the top stitching, which runs from the waist of her pants to the hem, is visible. She holds a handmade purse with a pocket. You don’t have to make khaki pants, though. If you’d rather make a pair of jeans, like you see here, both the pattern and the tutorial will work for jeans-making too.

This pants / jeans pattern uses an elastic waist, which makes it super easy for little girls to get the pants on and off.

Eventually I’ll show you how to make these assorted tops to go with your doll’s pants, as well, but this week we’ll be focused on making these cute khakis!
