Yes, today’s flannel nightgown with lace trim is pretty easy to make, and it also would be a great Valentine’s Day gift for the little child in your life.
But you need to understand something about the patterns: it’s the same pattern that I posted a few weeks ago for an A-line dress. However, you’ll want to cut out only three pieces for the flannel nightgown, rather than the six pieces we used for the A-line dress.

You might wonder why I’m not going to have you create a lining for the nightgown, like we did with the A-line dress. I have two reasons for this.
First, flannel fabric is a little thicker than cotton quilting fabric, so by avoiding the extra layer of fabric, we’re preventing some bulk in the doll clothes.

Second, I do believe this method is slightly easier than the lined garment. Although I could be wrong about that. Let me know what you think in the comments. Is it easier to sew this pattern without the lining? Or is it more difficult?
Also, please note that while this nightgown does fit Wellie Wishers, it’s a little bit short on them. You might want to make them some bloomers or underpants to go under it!

To make today’s doll nightgown, you will likely need one of the following items:
- flannel fabric on Etsy
- lace trim on Etsy
- 3/4 inch sew-on Velcro on Amazon
- chopsticks (for inverting doll clothes)
- Dritz fabric pencil
- Fiskars Stitchers mini snips (for clipping seams efficiently)
- Gutermann sewing machine thread
This list comes from my “Buyer’s Guide” page, which is easily accessed from the home page.
