I’m not so much a collector as a doll clothing designer, so while it’s really nice to have a variety of different Ken dolls to design and sew clothes for, I don’t really have a need for original doll clothes.
So although a friend very generously gave me this collection of vintage Ken clothes — many of which are original Mattel items with the tags in them — I’m trying to de-clutter my guest room. So unfortunately, these vintage Ken clothes need to go.

If you’d like to buy my vintage Ken doll clothes, bidding has already started. You have 4 days left to make a bid. Here’s a link to my eBay store. Good luck!
The items I’m selling include clothing from these catalog ads:
If you navigate over to my eBay store, you’ll notice the shoes, socks, and dolls are not included. The ice skates aren’t included either. I never had those — other than one messed up sandal — and well, I do have a naked Ken, but I just don’t need any of these vintage doll clothes for him.
When I was given these vintage clothing items by my friend Julie, I found one of the Ken sandals buried behind the drawer of a doll carry-all case, but it was smooshed out of shape and had turned hard as a rock. So I had to throw it away. It made me sad, but it wasn’t usable.
And I’m selling these because I really believe a collector would enjoy them more than I do. They just sit in a bag, in the cupboard in my guest room. When I first received them, I oohed and ahhed because they were so amazing! But then I never used them.
I don’t really display my dolls, like serious doll collectors do. I just take my dolls out of plastic tubs whenever I want to design some clothes for them. I did think about seam-ripping these vintage Ken clothes to use them for designing knock-off versions. But that seems like a rude thing to do, so I’ve decided to sell them instead.

The absolute truth is that I’m worried my doll stuff is getting out of hand. I’ve read Dana K. White‘s book, Decluttering at the Speed of Life, and I’m embracing the change!
When I die, I don’t want my kids to have to weed through piles and piles of doll stuff. You know what I mean? And although Dana K. White recommends that you not waste time trying to sell all the stuff you can’t seem to get rid of, when it comes to vintage Barbie and Ken clothes, I’m sure there are buyers out there who would pay a decent price for these items.
But since I want to declutter “at the speed of life” (as Dana K. White says), I priced these items very, very reasonably, with a starting bid under $5 for the whole lot!
I have taken measurements of the cute little red cap so I can create one of my own (you can see the prototype pattern on the graph paper in the photo above), but other than that, I really don’t use these Ken doll clothes, cute though they are. Hopefully they’ll bring joy into a serious doll collector’s life when I sell them and ship them off.

Hi Chelly would you ship to Australia if I bid? I know postage is very expensive. We are used to that. No worries if it’s too much of a hassle.
Taswegian, I will gladly ship to Australia if my eBay store lets you bid. I think I’ve set it to default to N. America though. I can’t change an auction after it’s underway. So if you can’t bid, I’m terribly sorry about that.
I probably won’t earn any money if I mail it to Australia, but that’s okay. I’d love for you to win the auction because I know these Ken clothes would go to a good home where they would be loved — your home! And if you wanted to make up the difference, you could just donate a small amount to my website. I’d be okay with that.
But you may find you can’t bid, since you’re not in N. America.
I don’t think I can which is a shame but never mind.
I’m sorry, Taswegian. If I had known you wanted some vintage Ken clothes, I would have reached out to you first, before I put them up for sale on eBay. You are a gem, and so deserving! I love your blog!
That’s okay. We have a couple of Kens and Allan but they all have something to wear.
