Can Topper Dawn Dolls, Palitoy Pippa Dolls, and Remco’s I Dream of Jeannie Doll Swap Clothes? #DollCollector #DollCrafts

The image shows the front view of a Remco I dream of Jeannie (Barbara Eden) 6 inch fashion doll wearing a handmade floral dress. The dress is sleeveless with a slightly scooped neck. The fabric is made of blue cotton, dotted with very small red, white, and yellow flowers. The length of the skirt is about knee-level. The skirt is slightly gathered at the waist, leaving it with a business-y look to the skirt's taper. This blog post asks this question because Chelly Wood (the writer, YouTuber, and doll clothing designer) has created some sewing patterns that will fit her I dream of Jeannie 6 inch fashion doll, and she wants to know if her free doll clothes patterns will also fit Pippa and Dawn dolls.

A few months ago, I found this little sweetheart at a second hand store (thrift store). She was completely nude of course, but I had been watching for a Topper Dawn Doll or a Palitoy Pippa Doll for a number of years, although since I do live in the US, I didn’t think it was likely I would ever run across a Pippa in a thrift store.

So when I ran across this little 6 inch I Dream of Jeannie doll by Remco, I snatched her up for a whopping $2.50 (American dollars)!

Here we see a side view of a Remco I dream of Jeannie fashion doll wearing a handmade felt jacket over a handmade cotton dress. Her shoes are tiny plastic moccasin booties. Her hair is done up in a gator clip that matches her blue coat and blue floral dress with tiny red, white, and yellow flowers. Her shoes/moccasins are made of yellow plastic. Then, as many of you know, I got sick with West Nile Virus, and I had to sit with my spine at a 30 degree angle for about two weeks, to recalibrate my brain fluid after my spinal tap. Ugh! That was awful!

When you’re laying back in a recliner chair like that, it’s pretty much impossible to do much. You can’t look at a computer screen, but you can sew!

You can do embroidery as well, and I do enjoy making tiny doll clothes with embroidered edges. Hooray for that!

Here we see a tiny I dream of Jeannie doll from Remco holding up her hand. She wears a felt jacket and a tiny knitted stocking cap. The doll's face is meant to look like the actress, Barbara Eden, who played Jeannie on the I Dream of Jeannie television show from 1965 to 1970. The doll is wearing a felt jacket that has tiny little hand-embroidered borders. The fly stitch was used to embroider this little jacket or winter coat. The coat, in this close-up photo, appears to have a floral lining that matches the blue dress the doll wears under the coat. There are white arrows pointing out the tiny hand embroidered stitchery along the coat's cuffs and the very bottom of the jacket. So I drew up some patterns for this tiny little Remco I Dream of Jeannie doll, and I spent two weeks making her a small wardrobe.

She was just the right size to keep the doll and all my sewing and needlework projects beside my easy chair, and I could remain reclined at a 30 degree angle while sewing without too much hassle.

Now that I’m feeling better, I took the time to see what other fashion dolls come in this 6 inch tall size. And I’ve found photos of Topper Dawn dolls alongside Remco’s I Dream of Jeannie dolls. They look to be almost identical in size.

I’ve also found Palitoy’s Pippa dolls photographed with Topper Dawn dolls, and they look to be about the same size as well.

So before I post my new doll clothes patterns for 6 inch fashion dolls, I’d like confirmation from you, my followers. Can Topper Dawn dolls, Palitoy Pippa dolls, and Remco’s I Dream of Jeannie dolls swap clothes?

This is a photograph of a very tiny doll's bodice. It is being held by a human hand that is three times the size of the miniature doll's shirt bodice/dress bodice. Tiny stitches appear in red along the neckline of the pale blue floral fabric. There are small Fiskars "Snippers" scissors alongside the bodice, to indicate the scale of this very small garment. Here we see a child's iron pressing open the seam of a miniature doll's bodice on a tiny ironing board. This image shows how very, very tiny the bodice is. Even the child's iron looks enormous as it presses open the bodice's shoulder seams! 1. I don’t know Remco’s Jeannie but I’d say that Dawn and Pippa would be pretty much the same. We have a couple of Pippas who we’d love to dress so I hope you will post the patterns. I can’t be sure, but I would not be surprised if Palitoy had permission to make Pippa in Dawn’s image. Palitoy made Tressy under licence from American Character and their Action Girl is very similar to Uneeda’s Dollikin , the 11.5 inch one. If it wasn’t 3am I’d read up on that but I think you would be safe.

    1. Wow, Taswegian1957! You have shared some awesome and very helpful information here! Thank you so much!

And yes, I do plan to post free doll clothes patterns for Palitoy Pippa dolls, vintage Topper Dawn dolls, and Remco’s I Dream of Jeannie dolls, right here on ChellyWood.com, so please check back later–maybe in mid-July and August–for those.

While I was sick with West Nile Virus, I designed half a dozen different outfits in this size range. Because Jeannie is such a tiny doll, she was just the right size to sit on the little table beside me. I’m glad you’re excited for these upcoming patterns!

    2. Oh, and one other thing, Taswegian1957, now that I’m feeling a lot better, I’m working on the patterns for Judy Littlechap too. I’m making a dress that will be similar to the pink satin one she is often pictured in. I’ve done two prototypes, tweaking the pattern just a bit here and there, and now I’m on what I hope is going to be the final pattern.

So watch for those upcoming sewing patterns too!
