Did you vote, back when I posted class topic options, on March 8th? Well it has nearly been a month since then, and the votes are all in!
The next Chelly Wood class on the Creative Spark platform will be “How to Design Your Own Doll Pants From Scratch!”
I really want to work with 15 inch dolls in particular, although the techniques I’ll be teaching will apply to dolls of every size and shape.
For the class, I’ve created a bikini for my vintage Velvet doll, which is a 15 and a half inch doll from the 1970’s. She’s super cute, and a lot of fun to photograph.
As you’ll see in that photo above, I’ll also be tackling how to create pants for the JC Toys Lil’ Cutesies baby dolls. But again, my techniques will apply to any baby doll — or any 15 inch doll, or any 18 inch doll, or any 11 inch doll, etc…
And I’d like to design more than just pants. If time allows, I feel very enthusiastic about designing some overalls for these dolls with my students.
However, I have to be careful that the class isn’t too long.
That was the problem with the last class. I was enjoying making the tutorials so much, that I went a little overboard and submitted something like 50 videos!
Which meant that the folks at Creative Spark had to charge $50 to make it fair, by comparison to some of the other classes they’ve offered.
Sadly, this meant that although 25,000 people looked at my “How to Alter Doll Clothes Patterns” course after it launched, only four people signed up for it.
You read that correctly: FOUR.
Uh-huh. That number was:
It sort of breaks my heart because… well, making 50 videos was a lot of work! 😞
For those of you who know me personally, you won’t be surprised that I took the news like a trooper. I’m back up and filming like a crazy lady again!
And this time, I’m going to try to keep the number of videos down to, say, 10 or 15! But no matter how you look at it, whether I make any money at this or not, as long as I get to design and sew doll clothes, I’m fulfilling a deep-seated desire to do what I love. 💖
When we go to meet our Maker, he doesn’t ever ask how much money you made on earth, I guarantee you. But I do think he asks you, “Well, did you have any fun?”
And I’m gonna say, “Why yes, I most certainly DID.” 😇
