That’s right! The tank top pattern I’m sharing with you today is reversible! But please be advised: I’m linking you to a tank top tutorial for making a Bratz-sized tank top. That’s okay though… Bear with me! The patterns look slightly different, but the instructions are exactly the same.
We’ll also learn how to make a pair of 11 inch fashion doll shorts with a front fly. To make today’s doll clothes projects, I recommend that you use the following items:
- small print cotton fabric for the outer fabric
- cotton broadcloth in a solid color for the lining
- Dritz size 2/0 snaps(2 of them)
When buying fabric for a tiny project like this, you may just use scraps, but if you’re buying fabric new, you won’t need much at all. Online you can order a third of a yard and that’s more than enough. (In fact, you’ll have plenty of fabric left over to make another outfit.)
Today’s patterns will fit these dolls:
- Queens of Africa Dolls
- modern and Made-to-Move Barbie dolls
- vintage Barbie dolls
- vintage Francie dolls
- Liv dolls

Will your patterns work for the “Rainbow High Krystal Bailey Indigo Fashion Doll?” She is an 11″ doll.
I think her hips are a little wider than Barbie’s. This tank top is pretty easy to fit most 11 inch dolls — you just make a Velcro closure at the back instead of snaps, and that way you can make adjustments. So you should be safe there.
But for shorts, I would recommend trying my Curvy Barbie shorts pattern instead of this one, to accommodate the Rainbow High doll’s hip size. Here’s a link that may help: https://chellywood.com/2021/06/16/free-summer-top-and-shorts-patterns-for-curvy-freepatterns-dollclothes/
Also, for future reference, I think her bust size is probably closer to Skipper’s. So when you’re searching for dress patterns or shirt patterns, I’d use a Skipper pattern for Rainbow High, instead of a Barbie pattern.
Let me know how your project turns out!
