How to Make a #Thanksgiving #Pilgrim’s Bonnet #Tutorial & Free Pattern on

Well, yes, this is still part of my Swedish traditional costume that I started posting back in October, but now that November is here, someone pointed out that this costume’s patterns would also be great for making a pilgrim suit for American Girl, Madame Alexander, or other 18″ dolls. So I posted this bonnet tutorial under the seasonally-appropriate heading suggested by that viewer. I hope it doesn’t feel too much like a bait-and-switch! 😉

As you may recall, all of my free, 18-inch doll clothes patterns have already been posted. You can find them on this page (scroll to the bottom).

If you’re wondering why I give away my sewing pattern designs for free, please visit the “Chelly’s Books” page, and that should explain my general motivations. Overall, I love to sew, and I think it’s important to share my talent with the world.

Want to show your appreciation for my free patterns and sewing tutorials? Please do so by liking, pinning, tweeting, and/or somehow sharing this video with others.

And finally, remember that I’m also offering a free doll clothes/doll furniture giveaway, which you can find on this page. It’s an easy sweepstakes to win, and there’s no catch! It’s just a simple giveaway.

  1. I don’t have a doll handy to try the hat on (I am making it for out of state granddaughter’s doll) – is there a rough estimate on the elastic measurement for the 18″ American Girl dolls?
