Make a 3-tier skirt and summer top for Stacie dolls w/today’s free sewing patterns #Sewing #90sToys

A charming vintage Mattel Stacie doll, with her flowing blonde locks, showcases a delightful handmade ensemble! She dons a purple tank top that pairs perfectly with a twirly three-tier skirt. The skirt's top and bottom tiers glisten with deep purple fabric, while the middle tier adds a splash of ombre pink and purple. Stacie's little purple sandals complete the look as she strikes an adorable pose, toes pointed together, balancing with her arm gracefully extended. One of my favorite eras for the Stacie doll has to be the 1990’s because that doll had such long, beautiful hair for brushing and styling!

It’s especially hard to find one of these highly articulated versions of the 1990’s Stacie, so once I found this lovely little doll, I was excited to begin designing outfits to fit her.

A charming six-inch Mattel Stacie doll from the 1980s showcases a delightful ensemble, perfect for those who cherish vintage dolls and enjoy sewing their outfits. This Stacie wears a matching tank top and a whimsical three-tier skirt. The tank top and the middle tier of the skirt are crafted from a captivating ombre or tie-dyed cotton fabric, adding a touch of retro flair. The top and bottom tiers of her skirt glisten with deep purple glittery cotton in layers of ruffled soft fabric. Completing her look are dainty purple plastic sandals that perfectly complement her outfit. Take another close look at the photos of Stacie’s outfit. Can you tell what has changed from the top photo to the one just above this text? Look carefully!

That’s right! The summer top is reversible! That’s why it gets four flowers on my difficulty scale.

To make today’s outfit, here’s what you’ll need:

Two Mattel Stacie dolls flaunt their ultra-long platinum blond hair as they stand side by side. They're in a playful mix-and-match fashion parade: one doll's deep purple tank top sparkles with glitter, while the other sports a tie-dyed ombre tank top in pinks and purples. Both wear identical three-tier skirts, harmonizing their distinctive styles. Below them, the Chelly Wood dot com logo sits snugly between the dolls.

  1. Dear Chelly, Stacie doll was not released in the ’80s. She was introduced in 1992. Just so you know.

    Trisha

    1. Yep, you are absolutely right! I looked on her backside, and she says Copyright 1995… Thank you for correcting me.

I’ll go back to the text of today’s blog post and make corrections now.

    1. If it’s a modern Skipper doll, I’d just use the Barbie 3-tier skirt pattern. It will be a little long on modern Skipper, but it won’t drag on the floor.
