Last week we took a look at how the 6-inch American Girl Mini dolls measured up to Barbie dolls.
Assuming that Barbie‘s measurements were pretty universally known, I offered the measurements of just the 6-inch American Girl Mini dolls. However, one of my blog followers, Dodi, suggested that we also need to see the measurements for Barbie.
So today’s #TapeMeasureTuesday offers both the measurements for the little 6″ AG dolls, and measurements for the Made to Move Barbie.
First, let’s review my 6″ American Girl doll‘s official measurements from last week’s post:
- Neck circumference… 5.3 cm
- Neck to shoulder seam… 1.9 cm
- Bust 9.6 cm
- Collar to true waist… 3.5 cm
- Underarm to true waist… 1.6 cm
- Sleeve inseam (underarm to cuff)… 4.4 cm
- Sleeve from shoulder seam to cuff… 4.5 cm
- Sleeve circumference (upper arm bicep)… 3.7 cm
- Waist … 9 cm
- Hip circumference… 9.8 cm
- Pants inseam (crotch to just below the ankle bone)… 6 cm
- Pants outseam (waist to just below the ankle bone)… 9 cm
- Pants leg circumference (upper thigh)… 5.6 cm
- Height not including hair… 6.5 inches or 16.5 cm
And here are Made-to-Move Barbie‘s measurements in comparison:
- Neck circumference… 4 cm
- Neck to shoulder seam… 2.3 cm
- Bust 12.3 cm
- Collar to true waist… 5.8 cm
- Underarm to true waist… 4.2 cm
- Sleeve inseam (underarm to cuff)… 8.4 cm
- Sleeve from shoulder seam to cuff… 8.8 cm
- Sleeve circumference (hand at widest point)… 3.6 cm
- Waist … 9.1 cm
- Hip circumference… 12.6 cm
- Pants inseam (crotch to just below the ankle bone)… 13.7 cm
- Pants outseam (waist to just below the ankle bone)… 17.2 cm
- Pants leg circumference (upper thigh)… 7.3 cm
- Height not including hair… 28.5 cm or 11 and 1/8 inches
Did you notice who’s sitting in the background in that second photo? It’s the little 6″ AG doll, waiting for Mommy to get done being measured.
In last week’s blog post, blog follower “Erin” had a comment about articulation: “The important part is the dolls are fully articulated and pose well.”
I thought I’d show the little AG Mini in a seated position, so you can see that her legs aren’t especially flexible. She looks very cute, posed like that, but I wouldn’t say articulation is her strongest quality, as dolls go.
She’s still a lot of fun to dress up!
And did you notice that the Mommy doll (MTM Barbie) is wearing the red skirt from yesterday’s blog post? Yup! You can actually use this week’s skirt pattern to make your Barbie a mini-skirt.
I recommend adding a little lace to lengthen it though, just like you see in these photos. That way it won’t be too short.
One last thing… blog follower “Sue” made a recommendation, and I haven’t forgotten about it: “[I] would like to see a comparison of the 6″ ag doll and the… Kelly or Chelsea doll both in size and in a photograph as I sometimes mix and match patterns for these doll and with a little adjustment they seem to work. What do you think about this?”
