How pretty does my little 18″ Madame Alexander doll look in that cute sleeveless top and matching elastic-waist schoolgirl skirt?!

I’ve had the sleeveless shirt pattern available here on ChellyWood.com for quite some time now, but this week I’m going to give you a new method for sewing the sleeveless top together.

In the past, we’ve used simple felt, which doesn’t need any hemming, to make the top that went with my pajama shorts project.

But this week I’m posting a new tutorial video on my YouTube channel, showing you how to make the same shirt with cotton fabric or a cotton/polyester blend fabric. This will be a lined shirt, and the PDF downloadable sewing pattern (which I plan to post tomorrow) will include both the sleeveless shirt pattern and the skirt pattern.

The confetti fabric that you see pictured in the image at the top can be found at JoAnn Fabric and Crafts, if you live here in the US. There’s also an online store for JoAnn’s.

Today’s blog post is just a preview of the project I’ll be posting later this week, so please stick around to download the free PDF sewing pattern and to watch this new tutorial video for making a cute sleeveless summery shirt for 18″ dolls.

This project, by the way, is a special shoutout to all the folks in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, parts of South America and other southern-hemisphere countries who follow me on YouTube and right here at ChellyWood.com — it’s summer in the southern hemisphere! So I hope you really enjoy making these cute summery outfits for your 45 cm to 46 cm dolls!

This week’s sleeveless top project is part of an ensemble of 18-inch doll clothes which I wrote about a little while back. Here’s a photo of the lot, and as you can see, there are still more outfits in the wardrobe which I haven’t posted about yet:
