Of all the items of clothing for the tiny vintage Kenner Strawberry Shortcake dolls, the things kids tended to lose most were the itty bitty shoes and the little green striped tights. A replacement pair can cost between $10 and $30 on eBay… Egad!
So today’s blog post gives you the instructions and the pattern you’ll need to replace those lost striped tights… Sorry I can’t help you with the lost shoes!

I actually started making this pattern a year ago, but I didn’t get my green striped fabric until Christmas 2024. So in my tutorial video, you’ll see a lot of photos of the purple tights instead of the green ones (which I made very recently).
I have good news for you though! In the bulleted list below, you’ll find a link to the small print green striped stretchy jersey fabric I used when I made my tights.
I’ve bought lots of small doll-related sewing items from this particular store, which is called iSewForDoll. I’ve always been happy with my purchases from them, including the lovely striped jersey fabrics my husband bought me for Christmas last year.
To make today’s miniature tights, you will likely need one or more of the following items:
- striped small-print jersey fabric on Etsy
- 1/8 inch elastic on Amazon
- chopsticks (for inverting doll clothes)
- Fiskars Stitchers mini snips (for clipping seams efficiently)
- Gutermann sewing machine thread
