Today’s tutorial video is actually related to a class I’m working on for Creative Spark. I do a lot of my blog posts weeks in advance, and so, by the time this posts, my new class (which teaches people how to design doll pants from scratch) may already be available on the Creative Spark website.

The tutorial at the top of this page will show you how to make a pair of high-waisted pants or jeans with a high waist to fit 15 inch vintage Ideal Velvet dolls (the cousin of the Ideal Crissy doll). These are fitted pants with a fly.
Not sure what I mean by that? Have a look at the image below.
A fly is that flap on the front of a pair of pants or jeans, where you usually pull up a zipper. But for my pants or jeans, you’ll want to use little snaps to seal the fly.
I mean, you could use a teeny-tiny zipper, but most people don’t have zippers small enough to fit these pants.
The items you’ll need to make these pants or jeans are simple: some cotton (for pants) or lightweight denim (for jeans) and two size 3/0 Dritz snaps.

The Crissy family of dolls which includes dolls like vintage Crissy, Velvet, and other dolls, were produced by the Ideal Toy Corporation, which held the registered trademark for them. That company is no longer producing the dolls, and at the time of this blog post, it looks like Mattel currently owns the trademark for Crissy (although to my knowledge, they are not producing them). If you wish to purchase one of these dolls, you can sometimes find them used, in good condition, on eBay (see link in the first set of bullets).
