This week, as I build a gallery of patterns for sewing a small wardrobe to fit Disney’s Moana 10 inch dolls, I want to recommend a few goodies that will help you create your doll clothes.
I recommend buying Dritz size 2/0 sew-on snaps. With this link, you can buy 10 sew-on snaps on Amazon. That’s enough to make about two or three shirts for a doll this size.
When sewing felt, Velcro kind of creates a fuzzy mess, so definitely go with sew-on snaps instead of Velcro this time around.
And you’ll need 1/8 inch white elastic for both the pants and today’s skirt patterns (although 1/4 inch will work in a pinch).
That link will take you to PensPins on Etsy, which is where I bought the elastic I used for all the masks I made during the early stages of the Coronavirus pandemic. Having ordered five yards of elastic from PensPins prior to the start of the pandemic, I had more than enough for making masks plus additional doll clothes.
Do you remember how there was a shortage of narrow elastic during the early stages of the pandemic? Well I was ever-so-grateful to PensPins for supplying me with five yards of 1/4 inch elastic — enough elastic to make masks for all the members of my family plus keep my tutorials rolling!
