This week’s doll clothes sewing project was a cute little doll coat with a hood. The hood used a gusset, so I thought it would be a good idea to give you a little information about how gussets work.

But why re-invent the wheel, when YouTube offers lots of great videos on various sewing techniques?

Today’s video not only introduces a gusset, but it shows you how to do French seams too. Special thanks to Morgan Donner for allowing me to embed her “guest video” on my website.

Morgan’s website has lots of great tips and tricks for sewing period costumes, especially medieval and Renaissance historical clothing. You should really go check it out!

I’m following Morgan on Instagram, so consider joining me there. She also has an Etsy store, where she sells beautiful handmade period-style jewelry.
