Today’s tutorial video (above) shows you how to make a pair of pants or jeans with optional back pockets, and this pattern doesn’t fit a regular Barbie; rather, it was designed, by me, to fit the Mattel Tall Barbie from the Fashionista lineup.
To those of you who follow my website pretty regularly, you may have seen this pattern before, but today is the first time I’ve provided the pants pattern as a PDF. It was only available as a JPG image of the pants/jeans pattern in the past, like the one you see below.
And as you can see in the image above, today’s pants pattern includes a pattern for making my little mini ironing board, which you see in so many of my tutorial videos! To make today’s doll clothes project, you may need the following items:
- cotton broadcloth in a solid color for pants
- or (optional) lightweight denim fabric
- snaps in doll sizes
- a lightbox
- a fabric pencil
When buying fabric for making doll clothes, you can order a third of a yard and that’s usually more than enough. (In fact, you’ll probably have plenty of fabric left over to make another outfit.)
Also, although they exist elsewhere on this website, I’m going to incorporate both the short-sleeved and the long-sleeved shirt patterns in today’s blog post’s free printable PDF sewing pattern download.

I don’t know of any other dolls that will fit this pattern, but if you do, please let everyone know in the comments section!
