For those of us who are citizens of the United States, today is a special holiday, marking the US’s independence from Great Britain. In celebration of this event, I’ve designed an adorable little romper to fit 12-inch baby dolls.
Here’s the free printable sewing pattern for the baby doll romper, in its PDF printable form:
In the video, you’ll see that I recommend using jersey fabric or another stretchy fabric for this sewing project. You may also want to buy some 5/8 inch ruffled elastic or ruched elastic for the straps (those links may help).

Thank you for your pattern just clearing out some of my daughters clothes and said we could use the material to make some clothes for her baby alive doll as loving changing the babies lots of times and can’t use her clothes as was not a very small baby bless her lol. I purchased Crissy, Velvet and Cinnamon for my 9 month old granddaughter so that I can build up a collection of clothing for when she is old enough to come over and play with them. As well as using your patterns, you have inspired me to create some of my own and I think she will love how the dolls will be a bit different than the run-of-the-mill ones and I will be able to tell her their story. The scrunched-up “newborn” Baby dolls are becoming popular. They vary in lengths, GD’s is 15.” I enlarged to 125% to try this cute romper. Cloth baby dolls sometimes have the box-shaped “derriere” too, so extra torso length is needed for sitting in bloomers or pants.
This pattern seems easy enough to resize, to fit your granddaughter’s 15 inch doll.
However if people reading this are wishing they understood how to resize patterns, I should mention that I teach a course on pattern alterations (including resizing doll clothes patterns), on the Creative Spark Online Learning platform.
