My Crissy doll is wearing the same pleated argyle skirt that my 28-inch Barbie wore in yesterday’s blog post. So it’s safe to say that Crissy can wear the skirt we’re sewing on ChellyWood.com this week.

Of course it fits Crissy as more of a mid-knee-length skirt than a mini-skirt; whereas it clearly fit my Best Fashion Friend 28 inch Barbie as more of a mini-skirt.

Since Crissy looks so cute in this argyle skirt, I thought I’d feature her in my #TapeMeasure Tuesday blog post.

Here are Crissy’s measurements for sewing purposes:

• Neck circumference… 11.5 cm
• Neck to shoulder seam… 3 cm
• Collar to true waist… 9 cm
• Underarm to true waist… 5.6 cm
• Sleeve inseam (underarm to cuff)… 14 cm
• Sleeve from shoulder seam to cuff… 14.2 cm
• Sleeve circumference (upper arm bicep)…  7.5 cm
• Waist… 29 cm*
• Hip circumference… 23.5 cm
• Pants inseam (crotch to just below the ankle bone)… 18.5 cm
• Pants outseam (waist to just below the ankle bone)… 25.4 cm
• Pants leg circumference (upper thigh)… 13.5 cm
• Height not including hair… 17.75 inches or 45 cm

*Did you notice the asterisk on Crissy’s waist measurement? She has a button at the center of her back that rolls her hair up into her head, to give her a short-hair appearance:

The waist measurement I gave you here included the button in the measurement. In other words, I wrapped my tape measure around Crissy’s entire waist, including her hair winding knob.

That first image also shows my 28 inch Barbie wearing what looks like a tank top and a gingham skirt. The tank top is not what it appears; this is a leotard and/or swimsuit that I’m currently working to design. It may be a while before I post this swimsuit / leotard pattern, but eventually I’d like to post it as both a swimsuit and a ballerina’s leotard with the option of making tutus to go with it.

However the red gingham mini-skirt she’s wearing is a pattern that I’ve already posted here, on ChellyWood.com, but it was originally designed to fit 18 inch dolls like the American Girl dolls and Madame Alexander dolls.

It was really a surprise to me that my 28-inch Barbie could share skirts with the 18-inch girl dolls, but as you can see in my photos, she really can wear their skirts–only they look like mini skirts on such a tall, long-legged doll.

Unfortunately, they can’t swap shirts quite as easily. I tried 28-inch Barbie’s sweater on Crissy, and that clothing swap didn’t work at all. The sleeves were entirely too long, and the chest just looked frumpy.
