As we get closer to Christmas, I’d like to offer a few sewing projects for baby dolls. The image above shows a preview of the easy-to-sew baby doll dress pattern that I’ll be posting on ChellyWood.com this week (along with the tutorial video showing you how to make it).

Last week we made the little diaper that goes under the dress, as you can see in the image below:

The diaper can be made as a plain white diaper, or it can be made as a reversible garment. Compare the images above and below to see the different patterns on the 8″ baby doll’s diaper:

The image shows a nappy that has been hand-sewn using two different fabrics: one is a winter-themed snowflake soft flannel fabric and the other is a candy-cane-striped cotton fabric. The nappy uses Velcro straps as a closure. The overlay offers the watermark ChellyWood.com, and says that this website will offer free printable sewing patterns for dolls of many shapes and sizes. In fact, ChellyWood.com has free printable sewing patterns for this doll nappy and other doll clothes.

The doll shown in these images is a Lil’ Cutesies doll from JC Toys. It’s marvelously detailed with tiny lines on the hands and feet, just like a real baby would have. I really enjoyed designing some clothes for a friend’s little girl, who treasures this Lil’ Cutesie that she named “Suzi.”
