On my “Contact” page, I often get emailed the question, “Where can I buy tiny buttons for my doll clothes?” From time to time, people also ask me for advice on zippers and buckles.

I use Etsy for tiny doll buttons, extra small zippers, and similar sewing notions, but I generally buy my tiny snaps from Jo-Ann’s Fabrics.

The image shows a variety of Dritz snaps scattered on a blue cutting mat. They range in size and color. Most are silver snaps, but one cardboard snaps holder is displaying black snaps. These snaps also range in sizes.

In recent years, I’ve had two favorite sellers on Etsy: Charlene Lu Designs and iSewForDoll. When I’ve purchased goods from either of these sellers, I’ve been very happy with the price, the product, and the speed at which I received my goods by mail.

If you don’t like to purchase goods online, you can usually ask your local fabric store employees to help you find miniature snaps, hooks and eyes, and (if they have them) smaller-than-average buttons. In a pinch, beads can be substituted for buttons too.

The image shows a craft fair store with bags, bobs, bits, and T-shirts on display. The text says (at the top) "ChellyWood LLC" follwed by "sewing supplies," "handmade items," "and more." There's a sign hanging from a push pin that says "Open" as well.

But when you’re in search of sewing notions for making your doll clothes, please remember that I have an online store on this website, where you can buy all of these things! I’ve got a section for closures which includes buttons, buckles, and overalls clasps, as well as tiny zippers and sew-on Velcro.

And in my store, I break it down into doll sizes for you, so you know which size buttons I advise for 18 inch dolls, 15 inch dolls, Barbie-sized dolls, etc… The navigation button for my store is called “Shop” in the main menu at the top of this page on a laptop or desktop computer.

On a cell phone or small tablet, look for a little menu circle in the upper right-hand corner of your phone, to access the main menu. Once you click on this, scroll down to “Shop” for my online store.

On a gingham background, the silhouette of a human hand holding a cell phone has a white arrow pointing to the upper right corner of the cell phone, where a circle appears with tiny lines inside it. This indicates where the main menu will be located on Chelly Wood dot com, should a person need to access the dropdown menu for any of the following features: The home page, the blog, the helpful information dropdown (giving access to "helpful tips and FAQ's", Chelly's paid courses, contact information for this website, funding and charity work, Romeo & Juliet, Share your Creations! -- Additional items in the main menu include the privacy policy, cart, checkout, my account, shop, and donate.

If you use bookmarks to find online places you use often, consider adding a bookmark for my Shop page, and that will give you easy access to all of these goodies when you’re ready to replenish your stock.

It’s a lot easier to find sewing notions for a specific-sized doll, if you’re in my online store, instead of wandering through a massive brick-and-mortar building, trying to find the right sizes button or buckle from a wall of buttons and buckles of all different shapes and sizes (most of which are designed for humans, not dolls)!
