Here’s a quick preview of what we’ll be working on for the rest of this week. I’m going to teach you how to make a super-easy jacket for tiny dolls like Mattel’s Chelsea® and similar-sized dolls, using my free jacket pattern (posting tomorrow). Some of these “small dolls” are taller than others, as you’ll see in my videos, so on Friday, I’ll show you how to easily alter the felt jacket pattern to fit the doll you’re working with.

An alteration is an adjustment to a garment that usually makes the garment fit or look better. Adding lace can be an alteration. Adding or removing sleeves can be an alteration.

But what if the jacket you make looks a little too big on your tiny doll? Friday’s post will show you how simple it is to make alterations to a felt jacket that has been designed to fit small dolls.

These week’s posts are a continuation of my “Easy-Sew Projects for Kids” series. To see the other videos in this beginners’ sewing series, please visit my YouTube Channel, ChellyWood1.

  1. Hi I love your patterns! Thank you! I was wondering when the felt yellow jacket will be available? Thank you.

    1. Oh my goodness! 😲 Until you left this comment, I wasn’t aware that the yellow coat pattern was missing! Ugh! The year 2020 has been the year for finding errors all around my website and troubleshooting them!

Thank you for pointing this discrepancy out. I will add that pattern to the list of PDFs I’m planning to post in 2021. Meanwhile, here’s the link to the JPG image for you: https://chellywood.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/chelsea-coat-pattern.jpg

If you’re not sure how to convert it for printing, this tutorial will help: https://chellywood.com/2018/07/26/how-to-print-sewing-patterns-for-dolls-clothes-chellywood-com/
