I’ve created a pattern for #Fashionista #CurvyBarbie™!

Yessss! Here it is! I’ve finally created a dress pattern that fits Mattel’s new Curvy Barbie™ from the Fashionista line. Incidentally, it also fits my vintage Tammy Doll from Ideal:

Doesn’t she look cute in that modern-style dress? I’d like to thank Marsha for inspiring the high-low skirt on this doll. She’s a Facebook friend of mine who asked me if I’d ever designed a high-low skirt before. So I took her up on the challenge and designed this one for curvy dolls like Curvy Barbie™ and Tammy. And look how great it turned out!

Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed that it didn’t fit my Lammily™ doll as well. A lot of doll dress designers and sewists have been wondering whether or not Lammily™ and Curvy Barbie™ can share doll clothes. Well this proves it for me; their shapes are definitely different.

Now don’t get me wrong… It’s not that one or the other is better. It’s just that they’re each unique, the way real people are each shaped differently.

Anyway, this week on ChellyWood.com, I’ll be posting my free, printable sewing patterns to fit curvy-figured dolls like Curvy Barbie™ and Tammy Doll. So come back and see me later in the week!
