Yesterday I shared some photos I took of the finished dragon pincushion before I mailed it off to my “sewing swap” partner. Today I’m offering the first of two free, printable pincushion patterns, so you can make my “Sleepy Baby Dragon” pincushion too. Tomorrow I’ll post the 2nd pattern, and Thursday I will post the tutorial.
Once again, this pincushion is not for the novice sewist! It’s quite difficult to make, even with my handy tutorial. But if you’re up for a fun challenge (or if you’ve had lots of experience making pincushions and plushies), this could be exactly what you need to make your May special.
And speaking of May, a pincushion is a great idea for a Mother’s Day gift. I love dragons. I am going to try your pattern out. Thank you so much for posting it for us!… One question though. What is the seam allowance on this cute little guy? Or do we need to add extra for seam allowance?
Just saw you put up a video tutorial on his construction. Thanks a bunch! The tip on the ears facing towards the lashes is much appreciated because I just know I would have placed them in wrong! Hopefully I will be able to start on him tonight 🙂 I had a malfunction last night trying to download office software so I could get the pieces the correct size lol. I’m considering maybe making a little treasure chest or some kind of treasure and filling it with some emery for his little ‘strawberry’. hmm 🙂

I typically sew just shy of a 1/4 inch seam allowance. It’s really closer to a half centimeter.
