#BarbieDoll #DressForm DIY for Your #Dolling Diorama @ ChellyWood.com

Isn’t this a cute little dress form? I bought it on eBay (see link for seller) for a very reasonable price, but I didn’t really like the color. Its original color was black with a gold stand. As I wanted a red-white-and-turquoise theme for my sewing room, I decided a can of spray paint was all it would take to turn this “Barbie™ dress form” into the exact dress form I had imagined.

Of course, hindsight, they say, is 20/20; now that I’ve painted it red, I’m suddenly realizing it gets camouflaged against the brick background I had planned for my “dolling” sewing room diorama. The lesson is simple: think hard before you choose your colors!

If you’re wondering why I make patterns and tutorials without charging a fee, please visit the “Chelly’s Books” page, and that should explain my general motivations. Overall, I love to sew, design doll clothes, and embroider, and I think it’s important to share my talents with the world, so others can learn to do what I do.

  1. Thank Your for being soooo generous with your doll patterns,. I have a 5 year old Great Granddaughter who asks me to make doll clothes for her dolls. I usually crochet but I am 86 yrs old and my hands don’t work the way they used to. I did not want to disappoint her, so I went to the fabric store and found a cute 12 inch doll dress. pattern. She just loved it. Needless to say my granddaughter, ( her mother) tells me she wishes I could make more. So I went into the computer browsing around and I stumbled on your webb site, and I was floored!!! Sooo many doll outfits to make, Most people were selling them, but my finances did not permit me to get those, then I saw yours, printed out a few just for starters, and watched your tutorials and loved it. I am now going to start to make a few outfits for her dolls for a Christmas Gift. Again Thank Your so very much, you have make me as well as my great granddaughter very happy, Thanks

    1. You are quite welcome, Evelyn. This is my one true passion!

If you don’t mind, though, I’d appreciate it if you’d help spread the word about this website. Share images of my free patterns on social media, and that will send more people to the site. More views = more ads to help fund the site.

Thank you for your kindness! 🙂
